Jacek Cyganek
Jacek Cyganek was born in 1961 in Radomsko. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. He obtained his diploma in the studio of prof. Antoni Starczewski in 1988.
Jacek Cyganek's paintings are encrypted stories about everyday life, paintings, a kind of intimate oil-painted diary on canvas, where pathos are mixed with comedy. When it comes to style, the artist draws on the traditional art of icon painters, on the history of European avant-garde - from French cubism through Russian suprematism, to the traditions of the Łódź School of Fine Arts and the legacy of Władysław Strzemiński. The lightness and wit of the Polish Poster School, masters of book illustrations from the 1950s and 1960s, add to these serious examples.
